There is a lot to choose from in this part of Spain, and all of it is very reasonably priced. Here’s a summary of the things locals adore most.

Warm climate

Despite being in the hottest and driest part of Spain, Murcia offers a variety of landscapes, including mountains in the north with milder winters and valleys in the center with the most sunshine hours on the entire Spanish mainland.

The region is relatively undeveloped

Due to its lower cost and less developed state compared to the Costa del Sol, as well as the fact that it hasn’t experienced the same level of building boom as other more popular tourist destinations along Spain’s coast, the area has seen an increase in popularity. Spanish tourists have long been drawn to the region, and ex-pats looking to settle down or purchase a vacation home have many options.

Great beaches

There are 15 main beaches, charming marinas, small villages with coastal promenades offering restaurants, cafes, and shops, and the Mar Menor, a saltwater lagoon surrounded by a 22 km sand strip.

Culture and leisure

If you want to experience authentic Spanish culture, the area offers historic towns and villages. Numerous fiestas and festivals are held regularly in Murcia, the country’s capital. There is a wealth of delicious food right outside your door thanks to the area’s warm climate, which supports a strong agricultural tradition and produces excellent local goods. Of course, there are some outstanding golf courses, but there are also top-notch diving opportunities and horseback riding facilities.

Where to buy – urbanisations

The La Manga Club, Hacienda del Lago Golf Resort, Camposol, La Torre, Mazarron Country Club, and Mar Menor Resort are just a few residential urbanizations that provide safe, well-established ex-pat communities. Others include La Torre and Mazarron Country Club.

Real estate in the area is very inexpensive, with prices in Camposol starting around 40,000 euros for a 2-bedroom apartment and around 180,000 euros for a 4-bedroom villa with pool in the summer of 2015.

The climate and coastline in this region of Spain are excellent, and there are also excellent leisure opportunities, Spanish culture, and very affordable real estate. The area will be even easier to access after the airport in Corvera opens soon. Even the Paramount Park might materialize at some point; real estate here could be a wise investment!
