Although healthy individuals’ heart rates are consistent, some changes along the way are also required. The nervous system adjusts the rate of heartbeat in response to the need for more or less blood flow throughout the body. The damage to the nervous system caused by Type 2 diabetes can cause the heart rate to remain constant longer than is ideal.
Physicians recommend physical activity for people who have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes for many reasons, including improved nerve function and the regeneration of nerves in the skin. The number of changes in heart rate that are considered healthy is linked to better health and a longer life. Researchers at the Universidad Extremadura in Caceres, Spain, and the Universidad Autonoma de Talca in Chile looked at a number of studies that demonstrated how aerobic exercise followed by muscle training could enhance changes in heart rate.
Their work reported on in September 2017 in the journal Current Diabetes Reports, pooled the information from fifteen studies on the subject of exercise and heart rate changes. Nine of the studies revealed improvements. The nine studies showed that increasing the number of heart rate changes with three days of aerobic exercise and some strength training each week. Based on their findings, the researchers recommended that Type 2 diabetics’ heart rate changes be monitored in order to develop routines for preventing diabetic neuropathy and death.
Exercise that increases heart and lung rate is referred to as aerobic exercise. Motion is involved, typically with the arms and legs. A morning walk after breakfast aids in waking up the heart and lungs and burns calories…
- dogs are good at getting their humans out walking or playing, as well as providing love and companionship. Visit the canine rescue organization in your community.
- how long has it been since you have ridden a swing? Never give up; there is never a reason. It is fun.
- get a croquet game together in the neighborhood. Although it is not the most challenging exercise available, walking does get you outside.
- golf is another aerobic exercise (not fair using a cart).
- in the northern hemisphere, it is time to rake leaves. Get outside and plant some flowers or seeds in the southern hemisphere.
Strength training is exactly what the name implies. It is strength training to push against or move an object. The traditional examples include pushing yourself to the limit and lifting weights. Combining both forms of exercise is lawn mowing.
