As opposed to pretending to be asleep until I am, I indulged in the extravagance of declared wakefulness last night. When I turned on the TV, all I could see was the world cup final.
After hearing for long “J’Aime Francais”, tales of “Zidane”, I had to!!
The closing ceremony was grand, and it got off to a very dancy start with Shakira singing “Hips Don’t Lie.” I really like that song!! Then came the team anthems, and I combed through the faces looking for the cuter ones that might help me survive a game where all the men chase the ball.
Surprisingly, the ball that both teams lusted after was actually quite a beautiful one herself! The trophy was like a gorgeous maid that everyone wanted to grab hold of!
It should be noted that Italy’s goalkeeper is very attractive, as is (I believe) player number 9!!
Two excellent goals—I liked both of them—kicked off the game.
The fire in Zidane’s eyes, that aggressive and passionate expression, and ultimately his desire for the red card may have been a major contributing factor to France’s defeat, though I can’t say for sure because it was my first time watching a football game.!
With his awesome attitude and body language, Zidane fathered almost all of the players on the field. Up until the first half of the game, it was a one-man show, but the opposing team feared him and his team adored him!!!!
Materazzi (the second goal scorer) and Zidane (the first goal scorer) got into a fight, which caused Zidane to leave the World Cup championship game!!
I tried to take in some tactics the entire time, but I occasionally missed them or became confused.
One positive aspect of cricket that was observed in that Berlin field is that players are willing to smile at one another and offer assistance if someone falls. This was grand for me, and I liked it for this is the true “sportsman’s spirit”. As the world cup final, best ground, best referees, (supposedly) best teams, and best football court (or whatever its called), additional grandeur was certain to be present.
The penalty kicks, the referee jogging alongside the players on the field, players shoving each other, and the attractive goalkeeper were some things I had never seen before—or rather, never knew before!
And France recently suffered a tiny setback!!
Maybe it was never meant to be after that fateful kick!
“The French were struck by the curse!”
And the golden lady was led off to glory by Italians who held her and coveted her!!
