Guaranteed Old Course Tee Time | St Andrews
Purchase Old Course-related packages from different hotels or golf tour operators to guarantee tee times. The majority of these packages consist of three nights or less in a St. a guaranteed Old Course tee time, three rounds of golf, lunch, and dinner at St. Andrews. To secure your tee times, please make your reservations well in advance as there is a premium attached to these guaranteed times, which is not cheap.
St Andrews | Ballot | Lottery
Another choice available to visiting golfers is to apply for a time through the Ballot (or lottery), which is drawn every day. Although it is the best way to get a good deal on a tee time, this method does not guarantee success and is therefore frequently not regarded as the best choice for international travelers who plan ahead. However, the nearby B&Bs or hotels can submit the application on your behalf if you want to take a chance in the draw. A vote can be cast for two to four golfers at once.
Single Golfer
If you are a solo golfer, may I suggest that you approach the starter on the day that you wish to play and let him know that you are open to joining any groups that are not playing in fourballs. If a tee time becomes available, he will try to accommodate you. Alternately, if you’d like, why not wait around St. When you see two or three golfers heading to the tee in Andrews, do you ask if you can join them?
Golfing in Scotland
Scotland’s rich history and sense of national pride as a result of hosting a number of British Open Championships throughout the year make playing golf there a wonderful experience.
Perhaps you have your own memories of your favorite great golfers who have walked the 18th fairway while confidently holding the trophy in their hands. Nick Faldo won the Open Championship at Muirfield by making 18 consecutive pars. Wow, Sir Nick Faldo was truly the best golfer in the world for a while.
If you’ve played golf in Scotland, maybe you had the good fortune to experience some of the British Open venues. You have some wonderful memories, which is wonderful. When did you last play Carnoustie? Can you recall how much prior knowledge from the course was required? You would play that course differently if you played it again… Carnoustie was mostly flat, but it was also very tricky, and on the day I played, the last six holes were particularly challenging.
But as with everything else in golf, you have to play the course to get a feel for how it plays before you can picture yourself taking home the open championship!
